Just at the time when society is recognising the need to re-connect
with nature, the threats to the Welsh landscape and wildlife are intensifying.
Climate change, new roads, other developments, over-fishing and intensive
farming methods are combining to present a powerful threat to our
environment and hence to the quality of life of the people who live
and work here.
The Wildlife Partnerships Scheme, supported by
the Countryside Council for Wales and the Esmée Fairbairn
Foundation, will help counteract these threats by achieving three
main aims:
- To engage Welsh businesses in a highly effective
mechanism for pursuing sustainability
- To mobilise the Welsh workforce to protect
and enhance its wildlife and wild spaces
- To provide Wildlife Trusts Wales with increased
funds with which to preserve the wildlife of Wales for future
generations.
By joining the Welsh Wildlife Partnership Scheme,
your business will have an opportunity to support and become involved
in wildlife conservation whilst contributing directly to the achievement
of corporate responsibility objectives - both social and environmental.
We know that businesses adopt different approaches
to corporate responsibility. You may prefer to remain solely profit-focused
or simply to make donations to a range of charities. Alternatively
you may be involved in active partnerships, perhaps with an emphasis
on community or education. You may even seek to integrate sustainability
objectives fully within your business planning process. We can help
provide a package of involvement and rewards which best suits your
organisation. Contact our Partnerships
Development Officer.
